Lived Experiences: Who Gets To Be an American Now? Raymond Haywood
Raymond Haywood, A Artist’s DUTY!, 2025, poplar wood, hot glue, zip ties, electrical tape, ribbon, shoelaces, yarn, 60” x 12” x 9”
February 14–March 28, 2025
Raymond L. Haywood’s Lived Experiences: Who Gets To Be an American Now? exhibition interrogates identity, space, and belonging through the lens of abstraction. His sculptures, crafted from distressed wood and layered patinas, transcend traditional forms to embody portals of liberation and speculative futures. Drawing on his background as a Master Carpenter and his commitment to Afrocentric narratives, Haywood reshapes wood into dimensional spaces that evoke ancestral memory and futuristic possibility.
