Phyllis imagined something bold and lasting: a vibrant arts center in the heart of downtown San Rafael where creativity could flourish, artists could find community, and everyone could experience the power of art. Thanks to her vision, determination, and generosity, that dream became Art Works Downtown in 1996.

Nearly thirty years later, Phyllis’s legacy continues to inspire artists, patrons, neighbors, civic leaders, and all who believe that creativity keeps a community strong.
