Although I retired recently from a career as a mathematician and statistician, I have always been interested in painting and visual arts. In the 1980s I started getting more serious and I studied privately and worked in pastels and eventually transitioned to acrylic. I am most interested in landscape and still life.
I view painting as an exploration and discovery of an interior reality. I try to paint the ineffable with spontaneity and continue to cultivate gesture as a means of achieving that spontaneity. I like to start with a landscape in mind and then let the picture lead me on a path to discovery.
