2024–2025 The Max Thelen Studio Residency 
The Max Thelen Studio is a studio residency program generously funded by the Fenwick Foundation in commemoration of Max Thelen Jr. The residency aims to support emerging artists by providing free studio space, exhibition opportunity, and exposure to the public for one year. 

I Love Photography!
I have been an avid photography fan and practitioner since my early childhood immersion in Life, Ebony and Jet magazines while laying on my parents’ living room floor in Washington, DC. Photography has been a constant in my life ever since. In my early twenties, I moved to San Francisco to pursue my goal of artfully photographing the wondrous natural beauty of California. I have photographed, published and exhibited works that include botanicals, historical figures, architectural icons, motor racing and abstracts.

Light Painting
As a visual artist, I am fascinated with how we interact with light and light interacts with us. This led me to begin manipulating light in my photographs, or what is known as "Light Painting." I have created bodies of work using this technique to capture light, motion, time and space in unique abstract compositions.

Wearable Art
I have expanded to producing my work on athletic apparel and gear. This decision reflects my personal interest and participation, over a lifetime, in various athletic activities including gymnastics, swimming, cycling, running and Tae Kwon Do. The energy and flow of my light paintings are natural complements to the human body in motion.
