How to apply: individual/group exhibitions
Apply to the Exhibition Committee by emailing the following information to program manager Stan Gibbs, stan@artworksdowntown.org.
Letter of introduction describing your artwork and the concept for the exhibition you propose.
Artist bio and resume
Artist Statement
Website or and 10 images of your work (jpeg format). Be sure to include information about each work, such as title, medium, and size.
Any additional support material or information that will set your proposal apart from the others.
Please note, Art Works Downtown receives many applications for a few exhibition opportunities and is planning the schedule for a year in advance. We will confirm the status of your proposal after it has been reviewed and a decision has been made. You may not receive a response for up to one year after submitting your proposal. Responses will not include a critique or explanation, we are not capable of providing this service for the many applicants.

1337 Gallery Exhibit Space
Art Works Downtown’s flagship gallery features traditional, contemporary and cutting edge work by established and emerging artists throughout the Bay Area. Located at 1337 Fourth Street, this award-winning, non-profit gallery showcases the best of local art through large storefront windows in the heart of San Rafael.
The gallery hosts six to eight exhibitions a year, which are juried, invitational, or selected from proposals by our Exhibition Committee. We welcome exhibition proposals from artists who live in the San Francisco Bay Area (100 miles from San Rafael).
How to apply: juried exhibitions
A Call for Entries prospectus will be available when the exhibition is announced. To receive them automatically, join our email list as an artist. You can also obtain the current prospectus from our website, or by calling, emailing, or visiting the art center. The entry fee is $40 for up to three entries. We host two to four juried exhibitions per year; themes vary and rarely repeat.
