November 13-December 5, 2015
Reception: November 13 • 5–8pm
Introducing five award-winning professional artists: women who possess the indescribable urge to create. Working in five different media, these artists have selected one genre they are currently excited to work in and showcase.
Pattie Grey, Mosaic artist, who, with an attempt at creativity as well as an attempt to clean her studio, challenged herself to make a mosaic a week for one year using mostly supplies on hand. This show debuts all 52 4"x6" mosaics.
Bonnie Himberg, Fiber artist, has been strongly influenced by time spent in New Zealand, and works with the medium of felting -- a variety of everything from scarves to birds.
Jane Kiskaddon, Painter, and her daughter, Megan, took Jane's Airstream Trailer on a road trip last year to Marfa, Texas. For relief from the 110 degree heat they went to a nearby natural spring called Balmorhea, a beautiful turquoise blue. She has since used that blue as the source of light in many of her current paintings.
Geraldine LiBraaten, Photographer, who has photographed Nepal, Barcelona, Paris and more, these days likes to concentrate on the microcosms of daily life, including close-ups of industrial buildings, bicycle wheels and intriguing bits we all might pass by but not really see.
Sheri Rice, Collage and Assemblage artist, works with recycled materials, currently recycling past art work into the present in the form of journals. Comic books and images from everywhere are a current obsession -- using the comic book captions as part of a series of framed collages.
