Carol A. Levy

Carol A. Levy
Delicate Balances
Paintings, Drawings, and Monotypes

August 1—September 19, 2014
Receptions: August 8, 5-8pm + September 12, 5-8pm

Curated by:
Marianna Goodheart and Stan Gibbs

Carol A. Levy describes her painting process as a dance. Here she faces the delicate balances between control and freedom, definition and abstraction, and conflict and resolution. Her work explores the dynamics, rhythms, tensions, and power found in the forces of energy. Her inspiration comes from the natural world, the figure form and the human condition. References to time and the timeless lay within the layers of paint, lines, gestures, and the spaces in between. The depth and breadth of Levy's work invites the viewer to feel the precariousness of balance and to journey into the unknown.

A graduate of Syracuse University with a BFA in Painting and an MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago, Carol A. Levy’s vision has been honed over many years of painting and teaching, and has been represented in gallery shows, competitions, and in various publications.  She is a long time resident of Marin County, has taught from Chicago to the Bay Area, and currently teaches at San Francisco City College.
